Dr. Costa is a licensed psychologist and the founder of Family PsychSolutions, PLLC.  She has been providing psychological services to the Houston area for almost seven years.  She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston.  She has taught several undergraduate psychology courses at the University of Houston.  She also received training at Citrus Health Network in Miami; a community mental health agency serving primarily under-served Hispanic children, adolescents, adults, and families. 

Dr. Costa has devoted her life’s work towards advocating for clients and helping populations that are often overlooked.  She began treating sexually abused children and their families at the Children’s Assessment Center.  She has a long standing history of collaborating with Child Protective Services and foster care agencies.  She later began working with abused women at the Houston Area Women’s Center.  She has conducted research in the area of domestic violence and has several publications on the topic.  She spent a year working at the Michael E. Debakey Veterans Administration broadening her scope of trauma work by treating our unsung heroes. 

At Baylor Family and Community Medicine, she provided outpatient services as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.  Most recently, she was one of the head psychologists at Kinghaven Counseling Group, an agency that provides outreach services to troubled children and their families.  Dr. Costa displays proficient clinical skills and conducts herself in a professional, ethical manner.  She is empathic and humble to the psychological needs of her clients.  She has an ability to establish initial rapport with even the most difficult, complex clients.
